Ressence, the watch company that keeps challenging the status quo of mechanical watchmaking, in close collaboration with Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, the UAE’s leading retailer of luxury watches and jewellery, is excited to announce the release of the Type 1 DXB - a limited edition of the Type 1 Squared.

Limited to 19 pieces, Type 1DXB draws inspiration from Arabic geometric patterns, believed to unveil the underlying reality to the viewer. This traditional design composes with natural light and creates unique shadow play. It is an Arabic take on skeleton dials.

The watch remains 100% faithful to the functions and movement of its parent, the Type 1 Squared. It differs distinctly from the collection both in its design and in its material though. Unlike the other Type 1 Squared the case is not made of stainless steel. Its case is in polished Grade 5 titanium, with a satin finish back. The Ressence Orbital Convex System (ROCS), unique in-house (and patented) module featuring ever-changing discs that continually orbits around one another, benefits from another design but also a different surface treatment.

The 9 components that make up the dial are finished in sand color PVD (physical vapor deposition). The hands and indexes are white and filled with Superluminova punctuating a decidedly traditional but fresh look. Ressence's "less is more" philosophy, which enables it to produce state-of-the-art but always revolutionary watches, is pushed to the limit.

The Type 1DXB is manually set via a lever on its case back. The watch has no crown, the winding and setting mechanism being the case-back itself, for better ergonomics and allowing a left-right fit.

Beyond a refined and authentic design, the origin of the Type 1DXB is that of a successful partnership between Ressence and Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons. It celebrates Dubai Watch Week 2019. "We are extremely honored to collaborate with Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons on this rather unique project. They have pioneered in promoting independent brands in their region and I see this piece as a thank you for all their efforts." Says Benoît Mintiens.

Mohammed Abdulmagied Seddiqi, Chief Commercial Officer of Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons commented: "This collaboration with Ressence is the first and hopefully not the last; for Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons to partner with Ressence sets a benchmark in terms of what can be achieved through collaboration and shows the support we give to the watch industry. The design concept was worked on closely with Benoit to achieve a masterpiece and we are very proud of it".

Ressence is unique in its ethos of making mechanical watches its own. The Type 1 DXB is a testament to this pursuit and a result of creating a 21st century product that mixes authenticity and tradition.
