The New Mido Inspired By Architecture Limited Edition
Mido is reasserting its fondness for contemporary architecture with a new timepiece directly inspired by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York. Designed by the great American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, this revolutionary building was chosen by the public following the interactive #BeInspiredByArchitecture campaign, which drew over 100,000 participants from around the world. True to the brand's identity, the new Inspired By Architecture Limited Edition presents a captivating contemporary design supported by clean lines. The profile of its round case in satin-finished and polished stainless steel and its crown take their shape from the elegant exterior curves of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. Its superb eggshell-coloured and grained dial is inspired by the impressive glass dome that crowns the monument. Produced in a limited edition of just 500 pieces, this unique timepiece is fitted with an exceptional COSC-certified automatic movement: the Caliber 80 Si, which gives it a power reserve of up to 80 hours, and whose impeccable accuracy is ensured by a silicon balance-spring - an essential component in luxury watchmaking.
In August 2016, Mido launched the #BeInspiredByArchitecture interactive campaign, a 12-week round-the-world trip to discover 12 cities and visit 60 iconic monuments in order to single out the monument that would inspire the design of its new timepiece. This extraordinary operation inspired over 100,000 participants worldwide, Mido fans and architecture enthusiasts alike. Ultimately it was New York's Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, designed by the great American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, that won the favour of both the general public and Mido.
For the brand's CEO, Franz Linder, "the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is an important monument that transcends time. It is a true architectural icon that perfectly mirrors Mido's founding values of innovation, timelessness and durability. While faithfully conforming to the DNA which has forged Mido's reputation since its origins, this new Inspired By Architecture Limited Edition is resolutely contemporary. It reasserts the brand's strong bond with modern architecture. Its refined design, directly inspired by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, pays tribute to a modern monument that has had a lasting impact on world architecture."

The diamond-cut hands feature green Super-LumiNova® for easy readability at night. In a subtle detail that is only discovered on attentive examination of the timepiece, Mido's slogan "Inspired by Architecture" is engraved on the flange of the case. Its 40 mm diameter ensures that the Inspired By Architecture Limited Edition will appeal to both men and women.

Thanks to the transparent case back, enthusiasts of fine watchmaking mechanics can admire the finely decorated movement featuring blued screws and an oscillating weight adorned with Geneva stripes and the Mido logo.
The Inspired By Architecture Limited Edition is fitted with a smooth black genuine calfskin strap, integrated into the case, with a stainless steel pin buckle. This timepiece is water-resistant up to a pressure of 5 bars (50 m / 165 ft).
