The iconic collection of Ulysse Nardin marine watches welcomes the Marine Annual Calendar Chronograph to its illustrious ranks. Technical achievement is expressed by the in-house UN-153 caliber behind the celebrated annual calendar function and a precision chronograph. Sheer artistry is delivered by the Grand Feu enamel dial. Created by Ulysse Nardin enamel specialists Donze Cadrans, the lovely pale milky color of this enamel results from the process of this challenging art. Going back to the 17th century, the technique of Grand Feu enamel is a difficult one to master, making these stunning dials highly sought after by collectors.

Its elegant beauty is accentuated by the sleek dial with its two-counter chronograph. This pared-down design was used in several historic chronographs from the Swiss watchmaker, and it delivers all the force of the original Marine DNA. The month counter at 9 o'clock is combined with the small seconds. The chronograph 30-minute counter is at 3 o'clock, while a round date at 6 o'clock boast the admirable quick set function, and is easily adjustable both forwards and backwards.

Marine characteristics are also evident in the historic cathedral hands, logo and thin Roman numeral indexes. In this edition, they are crafted in blue steel, providing smart contrast to the delicate white of the Grand Feu enamel dial. Also in blue, the heritage logo and the addition of the words quantieme annuel, or annual calendar, above the date.

The annual calendar 'complication' is in fact incredibly simple to use. It celebrates the Ulysse Nardin quest for simplicity when seeking to solve complex watchmaking problems. A product of this quest, the annual calendar offers a mechanical solution of breathtaking simplicity. Simple to use, adjustable both forwards and backwards, this function epitomizes innovation in the service of functionality.

Driving this self-winding chronograph and annual calendar is the UN-153 movement with a power reserve of 52 hours. The movement runs at 28,800 v/h.

The stringent precision and quality requirements of the Ulysse Nardin certificate are met through precision silicium components like the silicium balance-spring and escapement, both manufactured in-house.

A worthy inheritor of the lineage established by earlier Marine Chronometer Manufacture (2012) and Marine Chronograph Manufacture (2013) timekeepers, the Marine Chronograph Annual Calendar bears the same classic detailing. This includes a ribbed bezel, a screw-crown guaranteeing perfect water resistance to 100 m, and a generous 43 mm diameter case for excellent readability. The blue alligator strap is an elegant match to the rubber on the crown.

In one stunning timekeeping instrument, the Marine Annual Calendar Chronograph unites the three fundamentals of the Le Locle manufacture: in-house production, technical avant-garde and rare artistry.

The price for the Ulysse Nardin Marine Annual Calendar Chronograph is € 14,500.
